FRENCH QUARTER AND ORIENT BAY ROADS BLOCKED

The prefect who is speaking live on radio has asked the people to remove the roadblocks. Otherwise, she will ask the gendarmes to intervene.

A large roadblock made with transport containers (among other things) was set up early this morning on the main road in French Quarter. Road traffic is therefore impossible. We will keep you updated on the situation on the website and also on the social networks.
Another roadblock was set up at the Orient Bay gas station.
Orient Bay residents cannot leave; security agents advise them not to go out.
In a press release, the prefecture asks people not to use their car to avoid road congestion.
The gendarmes are located at the Cul de Sac roundabout.
The elected representatives in charge of the dossier are absent from the island: Guillaume Arnell is at the Sénat, and Wendel Cocks is expected to return today.
