Marigot: phase 2 of the work has started

Scheduled to start on 7 August, phase 2 of the sewer and lead line replacement work finally started on Friday August 19.

Phase 2 of the sewer and lead line replacement work in downtown Marigot began on Friday August 19. Automobile traffic is therefore prohibited on rue de la Liberté, from the rue Félix Eboué intersection to the rue de l’Anguille intersection.

The section of rue du Palais de Justice between rue de la Liberté and the Rue Victor Maurasse will also remain closed to traffic, since phase 1 of the work has not yet been completed. "Even if it had been otherwise, this section of the road would have remained inaccessible to cars since traffic is diverted at the rue Félix Eboué intersection" explained an EEASM employee.

Phase 2 is expected to last four weeks, from 7 am to 3 pm. According to weather forecasts, heavy rains are expected in the middle of the week, which is once again likely to delay the work. This is why the Saint Martin Water and Sanitation Department (EEASM) has "urged the companies to install the pipes and fill the ditches as quickly as possible."
