Do vote transfers work in Saint-Martin?

Between the two rounds, three candidates gave their voting advice.  Jacques Hamlet and René Arnell, who gathered 1,117 and 306 votes in Saint-Martin called for people to vote for Inès Bouchaut-Choisy (La République en Marche) and Marthe Ogoundélé who obtained 600 votes called for people to vote for Claire Javois (Les Républicains) even though her local party supports the LRM candidate.

In total, the votes of Jacques Hamlet, René Arnell, and Marthe Ogoundélé represented a total of 2,023 of which 23% were from Marigot, 18.6% from Friar’s Bay/Rambaud and 12% from Orient Bay/Belle Plaine. Focus on the evolution of votes between the two rounds.

Marigot Area: Javois is ahead of where Hamlet was one week before.

In the first round in the five stations of Marigot, Jacques Hamlet was ahead, with 322 votes, of Claire Javois (252 votes) and Inès Bouchaut-Choisy (161 votes).

Jacques Hamlet and René Arnell gained 352 votes between them.  With the votes of Inès Bouchaut-Choisy, that represented 513 votes.

But in the second round, the LRM candidate only obtained 487 votes (+ 326 votes from the first round).

Claire Javois obtained 646 herself; She gained 394 votes.

Marthe Ogoundélé had obtained 127 votes in the first round in this area.

Concordia Area: running neck and neck

In The first round in the three stations of Concordia (4-5 and 16), Jacques Hamlet and René Arnell received 175 votes, Inès Bouchaut-Choisy a total of 137 votes, a total of 312.  In the second round, Inès Bouchaut-Choisy obtains 352 votes.  Between the two rounds, she won more votes than Claire Javois: + 215 votes against + 208 votes, but in the end, she was outdistanced by 24 votes (352 against 376).

In the first round, Marthe Ogoundélé had received 79 votes.

Friar’s Bay Area

In the first round in stations 8 and 9 Jacques Hamlet and René Arnell obtained 195 votes ahead of Claire Javois (194) and Inès Bouchaut-Choisy (137).

Hamlet, Arnell, and Bouchaut-Choisy represented 332 votes; in the second round, Inès Bouchaut-Choisy obtains 368 votes.

Although she progressed further than the LR candidate (+ 231 votes against + 219 votes), the LRM candidate is still outdistanced by 45 votes (368 against 413 votes).

In the first round, Marthe Ogoundélé obtained 182 votes.

Orient Bay and Belle Plaine Area

In the first round, in stations 12 and 18, Jacques Hamlet and René Arnell achieved 187 votes ahead of Claire Javois (112 votes) and Inès Bouchaut-Choisy (86 votes).  Marthe Ogoundélé had 59 votes.

Hamlet, Arnell, et Bouchaut-Choisy represented 273 votes; in the second round, Inès Bouchaut-Choisy obtains 273 votes.  There too, she progressed more than Claire Javois (+ 187 votes against + 172 votes) but came second in the second round.  273 against 284 votes.

Grand Case Area

The first round in station 11 where the people of Grand Case vote, Jacques Hamlet, and René Arnell achieved 154 votes ahead of Claire Javois (178 votes) and Inès Bouchaut-Choisy (33 votes). Marthe Ogoundélé received 18 votes.

Hamlet, Arnell, and Bouchaut-Choisy represented 187 votes; in the second round, Inès Bouchaut-Choisy obtains 129 votes.

The transfer of votes seems to have been to the benefit of Claire Javois who, in total, wins 106 votes (against 96) to obtain 184 votes.
♦ Cul de Sac Area

In this area, (stations 10 and 17) Inès Bouchaut-Choisy is ahead in the second round with 239 votes against 199 votes.  However, she won fewer votes between the two rounds: + 91 against + 114 votes for Claire Javois.

In the first round, Hamlet and Arnell had 81 votes and Marthe Ogoundélé 18.

♦ Sandy Ground-Baie Nettle and Terres Basses Area

In the first round in stations 6 and 7, Jacques Hamlet and René Arnell achieved 145 votes just behind Claire Javois (146 votes); Inès Bouchaut-Choisy received 81 votes and Marthe Ogoundélé received 53 votes.

Hamlet, Arnell, and Bouchaut-Choisy represented 226 votes; in the second round, Inès Bouchaut-Choisy obtains 216 votes.

The transfer of votes was made to benefit Claire Javois who, in total, won 187 votes (against 135) to obtain 333 votes.

French Quarter-Oyster Pond Area

The first round in stations 13 and 19, Jacques Hamlet and René  Arnell achieved 134 votes ahead of Claire Javois (84 votes),  Inès Bouchaut-Choisy (67 votes) and Marthe Ogoundélé (64 votes).

Hamlet, Arnell, and Bouchaut-Choisy represented 201 votes ; the second round, Inès Bouchaut-Choisy obtains 204 votes.

The transfer of votes benefited Claire Javois who, in total, won 144 votes (against 138) to obtain 228 votes.

 

The stations are studied according to the place of residence of the voters.
