Part of the Caribbean under the U.S. flag
After posting on social media about his desire to rename the state of New Mexico “New America,” Donald Trump published a fictional map of the United States with greatly expanded borders.
While the map includes Canada, Greenland, and Iceland—a move that drew a strong reaction from local governments—it also encompasses parts of Central America and the Caribbean. Zooming in reveals red dots on certain islands, notably Haiti, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, and the French territories, indicating that they would be American. The Dominican Republic and Barbados, however, would retain their independence. It’s worth noting, though, that the Caribbean Sea retains its name—for now.
Saint Pierre and Miquelon could also be American, according to Donald Trump, even though it is difficult to identify the territory on the map, whose outlines are sometimes very rough.
