Super U closed on Sunday afternoon, but what about the other supermarkets?

Since its opening, the supermarket located in Howell Center Mall was open on Sunday, from 9am to 1pm, and also after 4pm. A practice which certainly satisfied regular customers, but which wasn’t in conformity with French legislation. Indeed, the law requires that this kind of business closes on Sunday at 1 pm unless an exception is granted. This is why the management was asked to review the work hours of their employees. And diffuse the following message: "for administrative reasons, we are no longer able to open on Sunday afternoon until further notice." So, the store closes its doors at 12:45.

Now, it remains to be seen if the island’s supermarkets will follow their example. It should be noted that a business without employees can open on Sunday.
