La Poste: the Marigot branch will reopen this summer

The Rue de la Liberté premises are closed due to works. They will be completely refurbished and refitted.

"The whole population should feel comfortable using our premises," says Rosalie Roesch, the new Manager of Saint-Martin area at La Poste (read more on her background below). It is in this spirit that she is overseeing the construction of the Marigot office. Work has indeed been underway since April 21.

"It basically consists of the complete reconfiguration of the space so as to better serve the customers," she explains. "So there will be a welcome desk, automatic teller machines (for mail and banking) on your left as you enter, then two seated counters with two customer representatives*: one window for professionals and another seated window reserved for banking," she describes. Note that only one entry will be maintained for security reasons.

However, Rosalie Roesch is aware that a reconfiguration of space alone would not be enough to reduce queues. "Their length is what stood out the most to me when I arrived," she says. She therefore proposed to her teams that they educate customers by encouraging them to use a credit card; the goal being that they will no longer need to move for simple operations. It’s a long-term effort. "We will show them what they need to do. Customer representatives will be trained. We will also work in collaboration with the associations in this sense,” she adds.

Rosalie Roesch is "a close interlocutor and a connection between elected officials and the public, between the Regional Director and the public." She requested the release of an English version of the website, which Saint-Martin customers will be able to further consult and use in the future. "I have the obligation to satisfy our customers," she admits. All this, while respecting "the common thread and the proximity with the postal service."

Until the planned completion of the work this summer, the offices located in the Howell Center shopping center and in Grand Case will be open all day. As for the French Quarter office, it will only be open to the public in the morning.

* The post office no longer wishes to use the term "counter staff" and is replacing it with "customer representative."
